The baseline
We’re Team Genesis, a team participating in Community Action Dacorum’s annual “Dragon’s Apprentice” challenge. Our aim is to raise as much money and awareness for our charity partner (Sunnyside Rural Trust) while learning crucial skills in business.
Our Core Values
Community
Community at Team Genesis means working together, supporting one another, and creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. It’s about building strong connections so that people can learn, grow, and thrive as part of something bigger than themselves.
Humanity
Humanity at Team Genesis is about giving people the skills, confidence, and opportunities to make their own choices and take pride in their achievements. We support individuals to grow in self-reliance—whether through work, learning new skills, or daily life—so they can live more freely and fulfil their potential.
Equality
Equality at Team Genesis means treating everyone with fairness, respect, and dignity. We value each person’s abilities and contributions, ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities to learn, work, and be part of the community, free from barriers or discrimination.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
As part of the Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge, our team is working with Sunnyside Rural Trust to raise money and awareness for the fantastic work they do. We know people often want to understand more about who we are, what the challenge involves, and how their support makes a difference. Below, we’ve answered some of the most common questions about our project, our fundraising, and the impact it will have.
What is the Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge?
The Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge is a local programme that connects teams of young people with a charity and a business mentor. Each team is given a small seed fund and challenged to use their creativity, teamwork, and business skills to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity. It’s about learning real-world skills while making a positive impact in the community.
Where does the money we raise go?
Every pound raised by our team goes directly to Sunnyside Rural Trust. The money is used to support training programmes, buy tools and equipment, and fund the day-to-day running of their projects. This means the funds we raise have a direct and visible impact on the people Sunnyside supports, helping them to continue learning, growing, and contributing to the community.
What kind of fundraising are you doing?
As part of the Dragons’ Apprentice Challenge, we’ll be organising a range of events and sales to raise money. This includes smaller activities such as bake sales or raffles, as well as larger community events where people can come together to support our cause. Each fundraiser is designed not only to raise funds but also to spread awareness of Sunnyside Rural Trust and the work they do.
How can I support your team?
There are lots of ways to support us. You can come along to our events, take part in our sales, or make a direct donation to our fundraising efforts. Even something as simple as sharing our project with friends and family helps us reach more people. Every bit of support, no matter how big or small, makes a real difference to both our team and Sunnyside Rural Trust.
What impact will this have?
The money and awareness we raise will help Sunnyside Rural Trust continue delivering training and opportunities for people with learning disabilities. It means more resources, better facilities, and more chances for people to build independence and confidence. By supporting our team, you’re helping Sunnyside change lives for the better and strengthening the sense of community across Dacorum.
